PMEGP Loan Application Name Mismatch in Jharkhand: Aadhaar, Education and Category Certificates
The Prime Minister's Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) helps a person start a new small unit with a bank loan and a Government subsidy of 15% to 35% of the project cost. The application is made online on the KVIC PMEGP e-portal, then goes to an implementing agency and a bank. Your name is checked against more papers here than in most loans: Aadhaar, PAN and the bank account, but also your school certificate if the project needs Class 8 pass, your caste or other category certificate if you claim the higher subsidy, and the training certificate you earn on the way. Match them all before you apply. We publish Gazette notices, and we say this first: a spelling slip in these papers needs no Gazette notice.
Five points, in the order you will need them. First, match Aadhaar and PAN, and type your name on the portal exactly as on Aadhaar; this is our advice. Second, update the bank account name to that spelling. Third, if your project needs Class 8 pass, check the name on your school certificate or JAC marksheet. Fourth, if you claim a special category subsidy, check the name on your caste or other certificate. Fifth, a spelling slip here does not need a Gazette. We publish Gazette notices, and we say this plainly.
How PMEGP Works and Where Your Name Is Checked
The points below come from the KVIC PMEGP e-portal's own FAQ and a bank's scheme page. Where a point is our own reading, we say so.
| Point | What the source shows |
|---|---|
| Highest project cost | "Rs.50.00 lakhs for manufacturing unit and Rs.20.00 lakhs for Service Unit", per the KVIC FAQ |
| Subsidy | 15% to 35% of project cost, per SBI's scheme page |
| Your own share | 10% for general category; 5% for special categories including SC, ST, OBC, minorities, women and others, per the KVIC FAQ |
| Who can apply | "Any adult beneficiary above 18 years" |
| Education | At least Class 8 pass for projects above Rs 10 lakh in manufacturing and above Rs 5 lakh in business or service, per SBI |
| Training | EDP training of 10 working days above Rs 5 lakh, 5 days up to Rs 5 lakh, not needed up to Rs 2 lakh |
| Where to apply | Online on the KVIC website. The loan comes from a public sector, regional rural, co-operative or approved private bank, or SIDBI |
So a PMEGP file can carry six or more papers with your name: Aadhaar, PAN, passbook, a school certificate, a category certificate, and the training certificate the scheme itself gives you. The more papers, the more chances of a different spelling. This is our reading.
Which PMEGP Name Case You Have
PMEGP name problems fall into a few kinds. This sorting is ours, based on the papers applicants send us.
| What does not match | What it usually is |
|---|---|
| PAN differs from Aadhaar | Initials on one, full name on the other |
| Bank account differs | An old account in a short name |
| JAC marksheet differs | A school register slip from years ago |
| Caste certificate differs | A Hindi spelling on a State certificate |
| Typed wrong on the portal | A slip while filling the online form |
| A woman applicant's name before marriage | One person with two names |
| Genuine change of name | A deliberate new name, after the papers were made |
How to Fix a Name Mismatch Before Applying for PMEGP
Each paper is corrected by the office that issued it. The portal, the implementing agency and the bank cannot correct your Aadhaar or your marksheet. The table below is our practical advice.
| Situation | What we usually advise |
|---|---|
| PAN differs from Aadhaar | Correct whichever is wrong. See PAN name change and Aadhaar name change |
| Bank account differs | Ask the branch to update it. See bank records name change |
| JAC marksheet differs | See JAC marksheet and Aadhaar mismatch |
| Caste certificate differs | Correct it on JharSewa. See caste certificate correction |
| OBC certificate differs | See OBC certificate name change |
| Name before marriage | Marriage certificate and an affidavit. See name change after marriage |
| Typed wrong on the portal | Ask your implementing agency whether the form can be edited before it goes to the bank |
| Genuine change of name | A Gazette notice, then Aadhaar and PAN, then every other paper |
An old school certificate is often the hardest to change. Where only that paper differs, we often advise keeping a one-and-the-same affidavit with it rather than reopening a school record from years ago. Whether the implementing agency or bank accepts that is its call. Ask before you apply. This is our advice.
Type your name on the portal exactly as on Aadhaar, letter by letter, with spaces in the same place. We could not confirm whether a submitted application can be edited, so check the name on the preview screen before you submit. This is our advice.
PMEGP Training Certificate, Subsidy and Later Business Records
A PMEGP unit creates new records of its own. Get the name right on each as it is made, because you will show them again later. This list is our advice.
| Record | What to watch |
|---|---|
| EDP training certificate | Check your name on it the day you get it |
| Udyam registration | Should follow PAN. See Udyam and GST |
| Trade licence | If your unit needs one. See trade licence |
| Loan account and subsidy | In the same name as your bank account |
| Credit report | The loan is reported. See credit report name mismatch |
| A smaller loan instead | For a small existing business, see PM Mudra loan |
Does a PMEGP Name Mismatch Need a Gazette Notice?
No, for a spelling slip, initials or a name before marriage. Those are fixed at the office that issued each paper, or explained with an affidavit. A Gazette notice is for a genuine change of name, and even then each paper needs its own update.
| Situation | What usually applies |
|---|---|
| Initials on PAN, full name on Aadhaar | Correct one to match. No Gazette |
| Old spelling on a JAC marksheet | JAC correction or an affidavit. No Gazette |
| Hindi spelling on a caste certificate | Correction on JharSewa. No Gazette |
| Name before marriage | Marriage certificate. No Gazette |
| Genuine change of name | A Central Gazette notice, then Aadhaar, PAN and every other paper |

Central Gazette Process for a Name From Jharkhand, and Where It Fits a PMEGP Application
No district in Jharkhand has a gazette counter, so a genuine file goes from Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Dhanbad, Bokaro, Hazaribagh, Deoghar or anywhere else in the state to the Department of Publication, Civil Lines, Delhi 110054, and the notice publishes in Part IV of the Gazette of India. As reported in July 2025 the Finance Department stopped personal name change notifications from the Jharkhand Government Press with immediate effect, so there is no state alternative to fall back on.
The Eight Steps of a Name File Sent From Jharkhand
Settle the final name first
Letter by letter, with the spacing you want, and then use exactly that everywhere, Aadhaar included. A corrigendum after publication is a second fee and a second wait.
Pick the category, then its proforma
A genuine change of name is change of Name Adult or Major. A wrongly typed spelling is the public notice for a wrongly written name. Twelve categories exist and only one is yours.
Type the proforma in duplicate
Two originals with two witnesses giving signature, full name, address and mobile number on both copies. A change of name is signed in the old name; a public notice is signed in your own name.
Fill the employment field if it is a change of name
The adult proforma asks for the post of the applicant and the office or company name. A student or a homemaker should still complete it rather than leaving it blank, because a blank field brings the file back.
Publish and keep the original paper
One of the daily local leading newspapers, carrying both names in full, the father or husband name and the residential address. The whole original paper goes in the file, not a cutting.
Pay only through BharatKosh
The Non Tax Receipt Portal and nowhere else since October 2018. Select the Department of Publication by name, read the amount the portal shows on the day, pay in your own name and print the e-receipt.
Check every date, then post it yourself
Nothing in the file older than one year. Personally or by post or courier only, never through an agent or advocate. Photocopy everything first, because nothing sent in comes back.
Read the notice, then update in the right order
Check every word the day it publishes and download the e-Gazette copy. Then update Aadhaar and PAN, and then the bank account, your school and category certificates, with the original Gazette notification.
The Five Papers in the File, and What Is Checked in Each
| The paper | What is checked in it, clause by clause |
|---|---|
| 1. The proforma, in duplicate | That it is the right category format; the existing full name exactly as your documents carry it; the new full name exactly as settled; the father or husband name; the full address with pin code; the post and office or company name where it is a change of name; the signature in the right name for the category; two witnesses complete with signature, full name, address and mobile number |
| 2. The affidavit or undertaking | The same names and address as the proforma, word for word, with wording matching the category. On Rs 100 non-judicial stamp paper as our safe default |
| 3. The original newspaper | The original paper, not a cutting; the paper name and date of publication visible; both names carried; the father or husband name and residential address; dated within the last year |
| 4. Photographs, identity proof and any category paper | Two self attested passport photographs; self attested identity and address proof matching the proforma address; both witnesses proofs; and, in a public notice file, the attested photocopy of the connected document carrying the error |
| 5. The CD, its certificate and the BharatKosh receipt | MS Word, without the witness portion, with the name typed in place of the signature; the certificate that the hard copy and the soft copy are the same; the forwarding letter to the Controller of Publication with a telephone number and email; the e-receipt |
The posting detail is on the sending the file to Delhi page, the change of name wording on the proforma format page and the public notice wording on the public notice proforma page, the charge by category on the fee and undertaking page, the reasons files come back on the rejection reasons page, and the download on the download page.
What a PMEGP Name Correction Costs in Jharkhand
