About Jharkhandnamechange.com: The Gazette Name Change Desk in Ranchi

We are a small documentation consultancy that does one job well: getting a Jharkhand resident's change of name published in Part IV of the Gazette of India, and then getting every record that follows to agree with it. This page tells you who we are, how the work actually moves between Ranchi and Delhi, what we refuse to sell, and how to check us before you pay a rupee.

5+Years filing at the Department of Publication
2Offices: Ranchi and Delhi
24Districts of Jharkhand served
0Files submitted "as your agent", because nobody can
Quick answer

Jharkhandnamechange.com is a private documentation consultancy, not a Government office. It has a desk near Shaheed Chowk in Ranchi and a filing office in Burari, Delhi. It was founded by Vipin Chauhan, B.Tech LL.B, who has filed change of name applications with the Department of Publication, Civil Lines, Delhi 110054 for more than five years. We prepare the affidavit, the newspaper notices and the Part IV proforma, pay the Government fee on BharatKosh in your name, deliver the file in your name and send you the published PDF. We charge a service fee, quoted per case, always shown separately from the Government fee.

Every name change website says it is "trusted" and "expert". We would rather tell you things you can check. Our founder's qualification is stated below and can be asked about on the phone. The office addresses are real places you can walk into. The fees on our pages are the Department of Publication's own figures, with the caveat that they are revised each financial year. And the one claim we will never make is the one every competitor makes: that our agent submits your file for you. The Department accepts applications only in the applicant's own name, in person or by post, so we prepare and deliver the file in your name. That is the honest version, and it is the version that gets published.

If you want the process itself, the homepage carries the full guide: the six cases where you do not need a gazette at all, the Jharkhand Gazette position, the five-paper file and the proforma wording. This page is about us. Every service we offer, with the case each fits, is on the services page.

Key takeaways

  • We are a consultancy. The Gazette is published by the Government of India in Delhi, and we make the file that gets it published correctly.
  • The founder's qualification and filing experience are the only trust claims on this site. No invented ratings, no invented case counts, no invented reviews.
  • We tell you first whether you need a gazette at all. Roughly one enquiry in three from Jharkhand does not.
  • Government fee and our fee are always two separate lines, and you see both before paying anything.
  • We never submit "as your agent", never sell a Jharkhand Gazette personal notice, and never sell a gazette to fix a birth certificate.
  • You can check every fact we publish at the official sources listed at the bottom of this page.

Why a Gazette Name Change Desk for Jharkhand

Because the state has a real, specific problem that a generic all-India page does not solve.

About Jharkhandnamechange.com: the gazette name change desk in Ranchi reviewing a Gazette of India Part IV file
A Part IV file being checked in Ranchi before it travels to the Department of Publication.

Jharkhand is a state where the same person's name is routinely written three ways. Santali, Mundari, Ho and Kurukh names cross into Hindi and then into English, and each crossing produces a different Roman spelling. Hembrom becomes Hembram, Tirkey becomes Tirki, Kujur becomes Kujoor. Add ordinary Hindi transliteration habits and a JAC certificate, an Aadhaar and a bank passbook can read like three people. When that person applies for a central job, a passport or a bank loan, the panel does not care which spelling is right. It cares that they match.

The websites that rank for "gazette name change in Jharkhand" answer that problem with a copied three-step template, a Rs 999 headline, and in one widely read case an office address at "Civil Lines, Jharkhand-110054", which is a Delhi pin code pasted onto a state that has no Gazette counter at all. People from Dhanbad and Giridih have posted original documents to that address.

We built this desk to give Jharkhand a page and a phone number that gets the state right: the Jharkhand Gazette publishes Government notifications and has no personal name change route; the Central Gazette in Delhi is the only place a personal notice is published; the Class 10 certificate is the anchor for most spelling questions; and a large share of enquiries are corrections that need no gazette at all. Our founder had been filing these applications from Delhi for years; the process itself is written out in the gazette name change in Jharkhand guide. Opening a desk in Ranchi meant the person who reads your Hindi and English wording back to you sits in the same city as your notary.

Vipin Chauhan, B.Tech LL.B, Founder of Jharkhandnamechange.com

One qualification, one line of experience, and both are real.

Background

Vipin Chauhan holds a B.Tech and an LL.B. He is not practising as an advocate for this work and this is not a law firm; a name change is an administrative process, not a court matter, and we say so on every page. What the law degree does is make the Department's guidelines, the Registration of Births and Deaths Act, the UIDAI SOP and the Passport Rules readable as rules rather than as rumour.

Filing experience

He has prepared and filed change of name applications with the Department of Publication, Civil Lines, Delhi for more than five years. The wording rules on this site, such as "signed in the old name", "quote the wrong spelling exactly as printed" and "each certificate named in turn", come from files that were returned, not from other websites.

What he personally checks

Every proforma leaving the Ranchi desk is read against the affidavit and both newspaper pages before it is typed in two copies. The founder reviews any file that involves a minor, a Government servant, a JAC correction or a name that appears on no existing document.

What he will tell you on the phone

Whether you need a gazette at all. About a third of Jharkhand enquiries are one of the six UIDAI no-gazette cases or a Registrar or JAC correction, and those callers are told to keep their money. We would rather lose the job than sell the wrong one.

Ask him yourself. Call 9540005002 and ask what "signed in the old name" means, or why a PUBLIC NOTICE and a "hitherto known as" notice are not interchangeable. The answer will tell you more about this desk than any rating badge.

Two Offices, One File: Ranchi and Delhi

Neither office is a Gazette office. Here is what each one actually does.

The Ranchi office and the Delhi head office of Jharkhandnamechange.com and what each does

Ranchi officeMain Building, Near Shaheed Chowk, Ranchi, Jharkhand 834001Meet the desk, hand over originals, have the Hindi and English wording read back to you, get the affidavit format, collect newspaper pages. Walk-ins Monday to Saturday, 9 AM to 6 PM; a call first saves you a wait. Full details are on the contact page.

Files prepared in your name are delivered from here to the Department of Publication in Civil Lines, the BharatKosh receipt is matched to the request letter, and Part IV is watched weekly for your notification.
Where the Gazette is actually publishedDepartment of Publication, Civil Lines, behind Delhi Vidhan Sabha Metro Station, Delhi 110054A Government office, not ours. The only Central Gazette office in India. No branch in Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Dhanbad or anywhere in Jharkhand.
If a website shows you a "Gazette Office, Ranchi", or an address ending "Jharkhand-110054", it is not real. 110054 is Delhi. Do not post originals to it.

How a Gazette Name Change File Moves Through Our Hands

The same six stages for every client, from a first WhatsApp message to the published PDF.

1

The triage call

You tell us your old name, new name and district, and send scans. We tell you whether you need a gazette at all, which wording applies, and what it will cost in total, before you pay anything.

2

Wording locked in writing

We send the exact affidavit and proforma text on WhatsApp, letter by letter, in Hindi and English where needed. Nothing is typed until you reply "yes". The Government fee is non-refundable, so this step protects your money.

3

Affidavit and newspapers, where you are

The affidavit is sworn before a notary in your district, or where you live if you are outside Jharkhand. We book one Hindi daily and one English daily with identical wording and collect the complete original pages.

4

The five-paper file

Affidavit, two newspaper pages, CD certificate and Word soft copy, request letter to the Controller of Publications, and the proforma in two copies signed in your old name with two witnesses. The founder checks the three acceptance details before it leaves Ranchi.

5

Fee and delivery in your name

The fee is paid on BharatKosh in your name and the receipt attached. The Delhi office delivers the file to Civil Lines in your name, as the Department requires. Submitted papers are never returned, so we keep a scanned set for you.

6

Publication and the checklist

Part IV is released weekly. We download your PDF from egazette.gov.in the week it appears and send it with the page number, the date, and the order in which to update Aadhaar, PAN, bank, passport and JAC records.

Publication commonly takes 30 to 45 days from filing, so the whole thing is 3 to 7 weeks end to end. We do not promise faster, because nobody can.

What We Promise, and What We Refuse to Sell

The second list matters more than the first.

What we promise

  • You hear first whether a gazette is needed at all, with the reason.
  • Government fee and our fee are always two separate lines, quoted before you pay.
  • Nothing prints without your written confirmation of the exact wording.
  • One advisor handles your file from first scan to published PDF, on the same number.
  • Your scans go to one file and nobody else. No marketing lists, no resale.
  • A scanned set of your complete file is kept, because the Department never returns papers.
  • Every fee, portal and address we publish is checked against the Government source, and we say when a figure is revised yearly.

What we refuse to sell

  • A gazette to correct a birth certificate. That is a Registrar correction under Section 15 of the RBD Act, 1969, at the office that holds the register.
  • A gazette to change a date of birth. No gazette does that.
  • A "Jharkhand Gazette" personal name change. The state gazette has no such route.
  • A gazette for a surname-only change after marriage where the marriage certificate already does the job.
  • Submission "as your agent". The Department does not accept it, and anyone who says they do it is describing a post office.
  • A "certified" or "attested" copy of the Gazette. The PDF from egazette.gov.in is the official copy, free, and needs no attestation for use in India.
  • A price below the Government fee. Rs 999 cannot include a Rs 1,100 fee.
The illustrative examples on this site describe the types of case we handle and are labelled as such. We do not publish client names, reviews or star ratings, because we cannot show you the evidence behind them and neither can anyone else.

How Jharkhandnamechange.com Charges for a Gazette Name Change

Two lines, every time. Here is what sits on each.

How the Government fee and the Jharkhandnamechange.com service charge are shown
LineAmountWhere it goes
Government feeCommonly Rs 1,100 adult, Rs 1,700 minor, Rs 1,350 for a public notice of a wrongly written namePaid on BharatKosh in your name. Revised each financial year and non-refundable. You get the receipt.
Third-party costsStamp paper and notary Rs 100 to Rs 500; two newspapers Rs 800 to Rs 4,000Paid to the notary and the newspapers at actual cost, receipts shown.
Our service chargeQuoted per caseFor drafting, checking, booking, assembling, delivering and tracking. A plain adult change and a minor change with a custody order are different amounts of work, so we do not print one number.

If your case turns out to be one of the six no-gazette categories or a correction at an issuing office, we say so on the triage call and there is no charge for that call.

Where Jharkhandnamechange.com Works: All 24 Districts

The file is built in Ranchi and delivered in Delhi, so your district never limits you.

How to Check Jharkhandnamechange.com Before You Pay

We would ask these questions of any name change service, so ask them of us.

Five questions to ask any provider

  • Which Gazette, and where is the office? The only right answer for Jharkhand is the Central Gazette, Civil Lines, Delhi 110054.
  • Does your price include the Government fee, and will I get the BharatKosh receipt in my name?
  • Who signs the proforma and in which name? The applicant, in the old name, with two witnesses.
  • Will you tell me if I do not need a gazette? If the answer is a sales pitch, hang up.
  • Do you submit as my agent? Anyone who says yes does not know the Department's rule.

What you can verify about us

  • The Ranchi office is a real address near Shaheed Chowk. Visit it.
  • The founder's qualification is stated on every page and he takes calls himself.
  • Every fee we quote appears in the Department of Publication's own guidelines, and we publish the yearly-revision caveat.
  • Every fact on the site links to the Government source that carries it.
  • Our published Part IV notifications can be searched on egazette.gov.in by the applicant's name; ask a past client of yours who used us to show you theirs.

Questions People Ask About Jharkhandnamechange.com

About the desk itself, not the process. The process questions are on the homepage.

Is Jharkhandnamechange.com a Government office?+
No. We are a private documentation consultancy with a desk in Ranchi and a filing office in Delhi. The Gazette of India is published by the Department of Publication, a Government office in Civil Lines, Delhi 110054. We prepare your file and deliver it there in your name, and we charge a service fee for that work.
Who is behind Jharkhandnamechange.com?+
The desk was founded by Vipin Chauhan, B.Tech LL.B, who has filed change of name applications with the Department of Publication for more than five years. He reviews every file involving a minor, a Government servant, a JAC correction or a name that exists on no current document.
Is there a Gazette office in Ranchi?+
No. Our Ranchi office is a consultancy desk, not a Gazette counter. There is exactly one Central Gazette office in India, at Civil Lines, Delhi 110054. Any website showing a "Gazette Office, Ranchi" or "Civil Lines, Jharkhand-110054" is wrong.
Do you submit the file for me as my agent?+
No, because the Department of Publication accepts applications only in the applicant's own name, in person or by post. We prepare, check and deliver the file in your name from our Delhi office. Any provider claiming to submit "as your agent" is describing something the Department does not allow.
How much do you charge?+
Our service charge is quoted per case and always shown as a separate line from the Government fee, which is commonly Rs 1,100 for an adult and Rs 1,700 for a minor on BharatKosh, revised each financial year. Third-party costs such as the notary and the two newspapers are passed on at actual cost. Call 9540005002 for a fixed quote.
Will you tell me if I do not need a gazette?+
Yes, and it happens often. Six kinds of Aadhaar correction need no gazette under the UIDAI SOP of 28 October 2021, and birth certificate and JAC certificate mistakes are corrections at the issuing office. If your case is one of those, we say so on the first call and there is no charge for the call.
Can I visit the Ranchi office?+
Yes. The office is at Main Building, Near Shaheed Chowk, Ranchi, Jharkhand 834001, open Monday to Saturday, 9 AM to 6 PM. Call first so someone is free to sit with you and read the wording back before anything is printed.
I live outside Jharkhand. Can you still handle my file?+
Yes. Many of our files are for Jharkhand natives working in Bengaluru, Pune, Delhi or abroad. The affidavit is sworn where you are, or attested at the Indian mission if you are overseas, and the newspapers must still circulate in Jharkhand if that is the address on your documents.
Do you publish in the Jharkhand Gazette?+
No, and neither does anyone else. The Jharkhand Gazette, printed at the Government Press in Doranda, carries Government notifications and has no published route for a personal change of name. A personal name change from Jharkhand is published in Part IV of the Gazette of India.
Why do you not show reviews or ratings?+
Because we cannot show you the evidence behind them, and neither can the sites that display them. The claims we make are ones you can check: the founder's qualification, the office addresses, the Government fees and the official sources linked on every page.
What happens to my documents after the file is submitted?+
The Department of Publication never returns submitted papers, so we keep a scanned set of your complete file and send it to you. Your scans are used for your file only. We do not add you to a marketing list and we do not share your papers outside your case.
Are you a law firm?+
No. A name change is an administrative process, not a court matter, and you do not need a lawyer for it. Our founder holds an LL.B, which helps in reading the Department's guidelines and the connected Acts as rules, but this desk gives documentation assistance, not legal advice.
How do I know my notification was really published?+
Search your own name on egazette.gov.in. The Gazette of India has been digital only since 1 October 2015, and the PDF you download there is the official copy. We send you the page number and date so you can find it yourself in seconds.
Do you handle Aadhaar, PAN and passport updates after publication?+
Yes. Every published PDF goes out with a written checklist in the right order: Aadhaar first, then PAN, bank, passport, voter ID and driving licence, EPFO, and JAC or university records last. We can handle those updates for you or you can follow the checklist yourself.
