Why Your Deoghar Record May Say Jasidih, or May Sit at Dumka
The 2010 merger
Deoghar Municipal Corporation was established on 26 June 2010 by merging the Deoghar municipality with the Jasidih Notified Area Committee, and it governs the city and the surrounding areas of the Deoghar subdivision from its office on Court Road. A certificate issued by the municipality or by Jasidih NAC before that date is a properly issued record; the corporation now holds those registers and makes the correction, and no gazette is needed to convert an old certificate into a new one.
The 1981 separation
Deoghar district itself was formed on 1 June 1981 by separation from the old Santhal Pargana district, whose headquarters was at Dumka. Entries made before that date were written in registers that stayed where they were. A family holding a 1960s or 1970s certificate should read the issuing office printed on it rather than assume the present collectorate, because a register does not travel when a boundary is redrawn.
Land, Residence and Khatiyan Names in Santhal Pargana
Deoghar is part of the Santhal Pargana division, where land is held under the division's own tenancy law and transfers are restricted in ways that do not apply in the Chotanagpur districts. For a name that is the point: on protected land the recorded name in the khatiyan is the name that governs, because it is the record of a right, and everything else is aligned to it.

JAC Certificate Correction in Deoghar and the District Education Officer Route
A Jharkhand Academic Council certificate is corrected against the school's admission register, and the application travels through the school rather than through you. In Deoghar that means the school office first, with the original admission form if it survives, and the District Education Officer or District Superintendent of Education when a school delays or refuses to forward the file. Deoghar also has a large number of residential and CBSE schools serving students from across the region, and those follow their own board's rules and deadlines. If the admission register carries the same wrong spelling, the board has nothing to correct against and the route becomes a public notice quoting the wrong form exactly.
