JCECEB Application Form Name Correction in Jharkhand: B.Ed, Polytechnic, Paramedical and Other Entrance Forms
The Jharkhand Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board (JCECEB) runs Jharkhand's state entrance exams, including B.Ed, polytechnic (PECE), paramedical and nursing. Each form opens a short edit window after submission. In the 2026 B.Ed window, as reported, the candidate's name, date of birth, photo and signature could not be changed. So the name you type on day one is the name that follows you to counselling and admission. We publish Gazette notices, and we say this first: a spelling slip here needs no Gazette notice.
Five points, in the order you will need them. First, copy your name from your 10th certificate, letter by letter, before you pay. Second, do not count on the edit window to fix your name; in 2026 it did not allow that for B.Ed, as reported. Third, if you have already submitted a wrong name, contact JCECEB's help desk in writing at once. Fourth, carry your 10th certificate and an affidavit to counselling. This is our advice. Fifth, a spelling slip here does not need a Gazette. We publish Gazette notices, and we say this plainly.
What JCECEB Lets You Edit on an Entrance Application Form
We read JCECEB's own 2026 polytechnic prospectus and news reports on the 2026 edit windows. The prospectus points are JCECEB's own. The window dates and the B.Ed name rule are as reported. Each exam has its own prospectus, so read yours.
| Point | What the sources show |
|---|---|
| Who runs the exams | JCECEB, at jceceb.jharkhand.gov.in |
| Fee | The application fee is "non refundable", per the 2026 polytechnic prospectus |
| Editable personal details in the PECE prospectus | Father's or guardian's name, mother's name, date of birth, gender, category, contact and centre. We did not see the candidate's own name in that list |
| B.Ed 2026 edit window | 8 to 9 April 2026, as reported |
| What B.Ed 2026 would not let you change | "the name of the applicant, date of birth, photo signature etc.", as reported |
| PECE 2026 correction window | 23 to 24 June 2026, as reported |
| Paramedical 2026 correction window | 16 to 17 July 2026, as reported |
So the edit window is for small fixes, and the rules differ by exam. Your own name may not be one of them. The safe path is to type it right the first time. This is our reading.
Which JCECEB Form Name Case You Have
Entrance form name problems fall into a few kinds. This sorting is ours, based on the papers people send us.
| What does not match | What it usually is |
|---|---|
| Typed name differs from the 10th certificate | A slip while filling the form |
| Name typed from Aadhaar, not the certificate | Aadhaar spells you differently |
| Father's name typed wrongly | Often editable in the window. Check your prospectus |
| 10th and 12th certificates differ | An older slip at the board |
| Degree differs, for B.Ed | A slip at the university |
| Name after marriage | Certificates in the earlier name |
| Genuine change of name | A deliberate new name |
How to Fix a Name Mismatch on a JCECEB Application Form
JCECEB corrects only what its rules allow, and only in its window. Your certificates are corrected by the bodies that issued them. The table below is our practical advice.
| Situation | What we usually advise |
|---|---|
| Not yet paid | Edit before final submission; copy from the 10th certificate |
| Paid, name wrong, window open | Check whether your exam's window allows it; if not, write to JCECEB's help desk |
| Window closed | Write to JCECEB at once, and keep an affidavit for counselling |
| Father's name wrong | Often editable in the window. See father's name mismatch |
| 10th or 12th certificate wrong | See JAC marksheet and Aadhaar |
| Degree wrong, for B.Ed | See university degree correction |
| Genuine change of name | A Gazette notice, then each paper |
If you typed a small slip and cannot edit it, write to JCECEB's help desk by email at once, with your application number, your 10th certificate and the correct spelling. Keep a copy. Then carry a spelling correction affidavit to counselling. Whether JCECEB accepts it is its decision. This is our advice.
Do not type your name from Aadhaar if Aadhaar differs from your certificates. Counselling checks certificates. Fix Aadhaar later, to the certificate spelling. This is our advice.
Counselling, Admission and Later Papers After a JCECEB Exam
Your form name travels to the rank card, counselling and admission. This list is our advice.
| Record | What to watch |
|---|---|
| Counselling | Certificates are checked. Carry the affidavit if your form has a slip |
| Polytechnic admission | See polytechnic diploma correction |
| Paramedical admission | See paramedical council |
| Nursing admission | See nursing council |
| NEET and JEE state quota | See NEET and JEE name mismatch |
| Caste and residence certificates | See caste certificate correction |
Does a JCECEB Form Name Correction Need a Gazette Notice?
No, for a spelling slip, a Hindi spelling or a name after marriage. Those are fixed at the office that issued each paper, or tied with a marriage certificate and affidavit. A Gazette notice is for a genuine change of name, and even then each paper needs its own update.
| Situation | What usually applies |
|---|---|
| Form slip, window open | JCECEB edit, if allowed. No Gazette |
| Form slip, window closed | Letter to JCECEB and an affidavit. No Gazette |
| Aadhaar slip | Aadhaar update. No Gazette |
| Name after marriage | Marriage certificate. No Gazette |
| Genuine change of name | A Central Gazette notice, then each paper |

Central Gazette Process for a Name From Jharkhand, and Where It Fits a JCECEB Form
No district in Jharkhand has a gazette counter, so a genuine file goes from Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Dhanbad, Bokaro, Hazaribagh, Deoghar or anywhere else in the state to the Department of Publication, Civil Lines, Delhi 110054, and the notice publishes in Part IV of the Gazette of India. As reported in July 2025 the Finance Department stopped personal name change notifications from the Jharkhand Government Press with immediate effect, so there is no state alternative to fall back on.
The Eight Steps of a Name File Sent From Jharkhand
Settle the final name first
Letter by letter, with the spacing you want, and then use exactly that everywhere, Aadhaar included. A corrigendum after publication is a second fee and a second wait.
Pick the category, then its proforma
A genuine change of name is change of Name Adult or Major. A wrongly typed spelling is the public notice for a wrongly written name. Twelve categories exist and only one is yours.
Type the proforma in duplicate
Two originals with two witnesses giving signature, full name, address and mobile number on both copies. A change of name is signed in the old name; a public notice is signed in your own name.
Fill the employment field if it is a change of name
The adult proforma asks for the post of the applicant and the office or company name. A student or a homemaker should still complete it rather than leaving it blank, because a blank field brings the file back.
Publish and keep the original paper
One of the daily local leading newspapers, carrying both names in full, the father or husband name and the residential address. The whole original paper goes in the file, not a cutting.
Pay only through BharatKosh
The Non Tax Receipt Portal and nowhere else since October 2018. Select the Department of Publication by name, read the amount the portal shows on the day, pay in your own name and print the e-receipt.
Check every date, then post it yourself
Nothing in the file older than one year. Personally or by post or courier only, never through an agent or advocate. Photocopy everything first, because nothing sent in comes back.
Read the notice, then update in the right order
Check every word the day it publishes and download the e-Gazette copy. Then update Aadhaar and PAN, and then your bank account and residence papers, with the original Gazette notification.
The Five Papers in the File, and What Is Checked in Each
| The paper | What is checked in it, clause by clause |
|---|---|
| 1. The proforma, in duplicate | That it is the right category format; the existing full name exactly as your documents carry it; the new full name exactly as settled; the father or husband name; the full address with pin code; the post and office or company name where it is a change of name; the signature in the right name for the category; two witnesses complete with signature, full name, address and mobile number |
| 2. The affidavit or undertaking | The same names and address as the proforma, word for word, with wording matching the category. On Rs 100 non-judicial stamp paper as our safe default |
| 3. The original newspaper | The original paper, not a cutting; the paper name and date of publication visible; both names carried; the father or husband name and residential address; dated within the last year |
| 4. Photographs, identity proof and any category paper | Two self attested passport photographs; self attested identity and address proof matching the proforma address; both witnesses proofs; and, in a public notice file, the attested photocopy of the connected document carrying the error |
| 5. The CD, its certificate and the BharatKosh receipt | MS Word, without the witness portion, with the name typed in place of the signature; the certificate that the hard copy and the soft copy are the same; the forwarding letter to the Controller of Publication with a telephone number and email; the e-receipt |
The posting detail is on the sending the file to Delhi page, the change of name wording on the proforma format page and the public notice wording on the public notice proforma page, the charge by category on the fee and undertaking page, the reasons files come back on the rejection reasons page, and the download on the download page.
