SEBI Grade A Application Name Mismatch in Jharkhand: Spelling Rule, No Changes After Submission and Changed-Name Papers

Candidates from Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Dhanbad and Bokaro apply to SEBI, the Securities and Exchange Board of India, for Officer Grade A (Assistant Manager) posts. SEBI's advertisement for the 2025 recruitment, with applications from 30 October to 28 November 2025, says: "The Name of the candidate and his/her Father/ Husband etc. should be spelt correctly in the application as it appears in the Certificates/ Mark sheets." It adds that a change after final submission "will not be entertained under any circumstances." For a candidate whose name has changed, entry is allowed "only if they produce original Gazette notification / their original marriage certificate / affidavit in original." We publish Gazette notices, and we say this first: a SEBI Grade A application spelling slip needs no Gazette notice.

Quick answer

Five points, in the order you will need them. First, spell your name and your father's or husband's name as on your certificates and mark sheets, as SEBI asks. Second, check every field before final submission; SEBI allows no change after it. Third, carry a photo ID whose name exactly matches the call letter, with a photocopy. Fourth, if your name has changed, carry the original Gazette notification, marriage certificate or affidavit, as SEBI lists. Fifth, a spelling slip does not need a Gazette. We publish Gazette notices, and we say plainly that a SEBI application spelling slip needs none.

What SEBI's Grade A Advertisement Says About Names

SEBI Grade A application name mismatch in Jharkhand, with the SEBI application form, a call letter, a photo ID and a marriage certificate
The name on the photo ID should exactly match the call letter.

These points are quoted from SEBI's advertisement for Officer Grade A (Assistant Manager) 2025, on sebi.gov.in, with applications from 30 October to 28 November 2025.

What SEBI's Grade A advertisement says about names
PointWhat the advertisement says
Spelling"should be spelt correctly in the application as it appears in the Certificates/ Mark sheets"
No changeA change or correction after final submission "will not be entertained under any circumstances"
Changed nameAllowed "only if they produce original Gazette notification / their original marriage certificate / affidavit in original"
Photo IDThe call-letter name "should exactly match the name as appearing on the photo identity proof"
At the examCall letter, photo ID and a photocopy of the same ID
JharkhandPhase I centres at Dhanbad, Ranchi, Jamshedpur and Bokaro Steel City
"Under any circumstances." SEBI allows no change after final submission. Check every letter first. SEBI also says wrong or false particulars given knowingly can cancel candidature at any stage.

Which SEBI Grade A Name Mismatch You Have

SEBI application name problems usually fall into a few kinds. This sorting is ours.

Kinds of SEBI Grade A application name mismatch
What does not matchWhat it usually is
Form name against certificatesA slip while typing
Call-letter name against your photo IDA slip, or the wrong ID chosen
Father's or husband's nameA slip in that field
Married name on ID, maiden name on certificatesA changed name; SEBI lists the marriage certificate
Initials against full nameA style difference
Genuine change of nameGazette or affidavit, per SEBI's list
Two rules, two papers. SEBI ties the form to your certificates, and the call letter to your photo ID. Make both agree before you submit.

How to Handle a SEBI Grade A Application Name Mismatch

SEBI allows no change after final submission, so the fix is in your papers. This table is our practical advice, built on SEBI's list.

Handling each kind of SEBI application name mismatch
SituationWhat we usually advise
Form, certificates and ID differ by a slipCarry an ID closest to the form name; keep an affidavit linking the spellings, which SEBI lists for changed names
Married nameCarry the original marriage certificate. See married women
Genuine change of nameOriginal Gazette notification or original affidavit, per SEBI's list
ID slipCorrect it at source. See Aadhaar or PAN
Certificate slipSee university degree correction
Initials against full nameA one-and-the-same affidavit
Originals, not copies. SEBI's list says "original" Gazette notification, "original" marriage certificate and affidavit "in original". Carry originals, with photocopies.

SEBI Grade A Exam Day Photo ID and Interview: Where a Name Mismatch Shows

A name mismatch shows first at the Phase I and Phase II exam gates, where the ID name should exactly match the call letter. It can show again at the Phase III interview. Prepare once, for all three phases.

Where a SEBI Grade A name mismatch can show
StageWhat to prepare
Phase I and Phase II examCall letter, photo ID with exactly the same name, and a photocopy of that ID
Changed nameOriginal Gazette notification, marriage certificate or affidavit
Phase III interviewCertificates in the form's spelling, with originals. This is our advice; follow the interview call letter for what to bring
Your demat or share recordsA separate matter. See demat name change
Read your call letter. It carries its own instructions. Follow the call letter over any general advice. See our document verification page.

Does a SEBI Grade A Application Name Mismatch Need a Gazette Notice?

No, for a slip. SEBI's own list for a changed name includes a marriage certificate and an affidavit. A Gazette notification is one of three choices, not the only one.

When a Gazette notice is relevant to SEBI recruitment
SituationWhat usually applies
Spelling slipCorrect at source, or an affidavit. No Gazette
Married nameOriginal marriage certificate. No Gazette
Initials against full nameAffidavit. No Gazette
Genuine change of nameGazette notification or affidavit, per SEBI's list
Our commercial interest, stated plainly. We publish Gazette notices. For a SEBI Grade A application spelling slip, you do not need one, and SEBI's own list names an affidavit too. Where you have genuinely changed your name and choose a Gazette notice, it goes in the Gazette of India, Part IV, since the Jharkhand state press stopped personal notices in July 2025, as reported.

How to Avoid a SEBI Grade A Application Name Mismatch, Step by Step

1

Lay out certificates and mark sheets

Before applying.

2

Type your name to match them

Letter by letter.

3

Check father's or husband's name

Same rule.

4

Pick the photo ID you will carry

Its name must match.

5

Check every field before final submission

No change after.

6

Keep changed-name papers ready

Originals.

7

Download the Phase I call letter

Check the name.

8

Carry the ID and a photocopy

As SEBI asks.

9

Repeat for Phase II

Same ID.

10

Carry originals to the interview

With photocopies.

The one rule that holds the whole job together. Check every name before final submission. SEBI allows no change after.

Central Gazette Process for a Name From Jharkhand, and Where It Fits a SEBI Grade A Candidate

Read this before the rest of this section, because a SEBI Grade A application spelling slip never needs it. SEBI's own list for a changed name includes a marriage certificate and an affidavit. No Gazette notice is needed for those. It is printed in full so you recognise at once when a notice is being sold to a candidate who does not need one.

No district in Jharkhand has a gazette counter, so a genuine file goes from Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Dhanbad, Bokaro, Hazaribagh, Deoghar or anywhere else in the state to the Department of Publication, Civil Lines, Delhi 110054, and the notice publishes in Part IV of the Gazette of India. As reported in July 2025 the Finance Department stopped personal name change notifications from the Jharkhand Government Press with immediate effect, so there is no state alternative to fall back on.

The Eight Steps of a Name File Sent From Jharkhand

1

Settle the final name first

Letter by letter, with the spacing you want, and then use exactly that everywhere, Aadhaar included. A corrigendum after publication is a second fee and a second wait.

2

Pick the category, then its proforma

A genuine change of name is change of Name Adult or Major. A wrongly typed spelling is the public notice for a wrongly written name. Twelve categories exist and only one is yours.

3

Type the proforma in duplicate

Two originals with two witnesses giving signature, full name, address and mobile number on both copies. A change of name is signed in the old name; a public notice is signed in your own name.

4

Fill the employment field if it is a change of name

The adult proforma asks for the post of the applicant and the office or company name. A student or a homemaker should still complete it rather than leaving it blank, because a blank field brings the file back.

5

Publish and keep the original paper

One of the daily local leading newspapers, carrying both names in full, the father or husband name and the residential address. The whole original paper goes in the file, not a cutting.

6

Pay only through BharatKosh

The Non Tax Receipt Portal and nowhere else since October 2018. Select the Department of Publication by name, read the amount the portal shows on the day, pay in your own name and print the e-receipt.

7

Check every date, then post it yourself

Nothing in the file older than one year. Personally or by post or courier only, never through an agent or advocate. Photocopy everything first, because nothing sent in comes back.

8

Read the notice, then update in the right order

Check every word the day it publishes and download the e-Gazette copy. Then update Aadhaar and PAN, and carry the original Gazette notification to SEBI's exam and interview.

The Five Papers in the File, and What Is Checked in Each

The five papers of a Central Gazette name file from Jharkhand and what the Department checks in each
The paperWhat is checked in it, clause by clause
1. The proforma, in duplicateThat it is the right category format; the existing full name exactly as your documents carry it; the new full name exactly as settled; the father or husband name; the full address with pin code; the post and office or company name where it is a change of name; the signature in the right name for the category; two witnesses complete with signature, full name, address and mobile number
2. The affidavit or undertakingThe same names and address as the proforma, word for word, with wording matching the category. On Rs 100 non-judicial stamp paper as our safe default
3. The original newspaperThe original paper, not a cutting; the paper name and date of publication visible; both names carried; the father or husband name and residential address; dated within the last year
4. Photographs, identity proof and any category paperTwo self attested passport photographs; self attested identity and address proof matching the proforma address; both witnesses proofs; and, in a public notice file, the attested photocopy of the connected document carrying the error
5. The CD, its certificate and the BharatKosh receiptMS Word, without the witness portion, with the name typed in place of the signature; the certificate that the hard copy and the soft copy are the same; the forwarding letter to the Controller of Publication with a telephone number and email; the e-receipt
The proforma is where files are lost, and there are twelve to choose from. A wrongly typed spelling filed on the change of name form declares henceforth be known as, claiming a change you never made. The Government charge already paid is not refunded, because BharatKosh payments are non-refundable. You then have six months to make good a shortcoming the Department points out, after which a fresh application with all new documents is required.
What to select on BharatKosh, field by field. Pay to the Department of Publication under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, and pick the Ministry, the Pay and Accounts Office and the Drawing and Disbursing Officer by their names in the dropdown, never by a code copied off a website. The codes printed for this office on different websites do not agree with each other, and money paid into the wrong head cannot be traced to your file. Read the amount on the portal on the day you pay, because it is revised each financial year.
What a Gazette notice will not do for SEBI. It will not reopen a submitted form; SEBI allows no change. It links old and new names, and nothing more. Since we publish these notices, the honest version is this: for a spelling slip, you need none. Our name correction against name change page explains the categories.

The posting detail is on the sending the file to Delhi page, the change of name wording on the proforma format page and the public notice wording on the public notice proforma page, the charge by category on the fee and undertaking page, the reasons files come back on the rejection reasons page, and the download on the download page.

What Handling a SEBI Grade A Application Name Mismatch Costs

There is no correction fee because there is no change after final submission. The costs are the application fee and your papers. A slip usually needs an affidavit, not a Gazette notice.

Costs connected with a SEBI Grade A application name mismatch
ItemWhat we can and cannot tell you
Application fee, Unreserved, OBC and EWSRs 1,000 plus 18% GST, per SEBI's 2025 advertisement
Intimation charges, SC, ST and PwBDRs 100 plus 18% GST, per SEBI's 2025 advertisement
AffidavitStamp paper, Rs 100 as our safe default, plus the notary's fee
Marriage certificateThe registrar's fee, if you do not have one
Aadhaar or PAN correctionThe current charge at each
Gazette noticeOnly if you choose it for a genuine new name. Paid on BharatKosh, revised each year and non-refundable
What we chargeQuoted on the call. For telling a candidate which paper is enough, nothing
The mistake that costs the most. Buying a Gazette notice when SEBI's list names an affidavit too. Read the list first.

Written and maintained by the Jharkhandnamechange.com documentation desk, led by founder Vipin Chauhan, B.Tech LL.B, with 5+ years filing with the Department of Publication. The rules on this page are quoted from SEBI's advertisement for Officer Grade A (Assistant Manager) 2025, on sebi.gov.in, with applications from 30 October to 28 November 2025: the spelling rule, no change after final submission, the changed-name papers, the exact-match photo ID, the fee and the Jharkhand exam centres. Three limits are declared openly on the page itself. First, the 2025 advertisement may be replaced by a newer one; read the current notice. Second, we print no list of interview documents, since we did not verify one. Third, the affidavit for a slip is our advice. We publish Gazette notices, and this page says plainly that a SEBI Grade A application spelling slip needs none. We are a documentation consultancy and not advocates, not SEBI, not a coaching centre, and not the Department of Publication. Who we are is on the about page.
