The e-KYC Exact-Match Rule: Why a Ration Card Name Must Equal Aadhaar
Jharkhand's Food, Public Distribution and Consumer Affairs Department runs the PDS on the Aahar Jharkhand portal, and from January 2026 it made Aadhaar e-KYC mandatory for every member on every card, done at the fair price shop's ePoS device by fingerprint or through the cardholder login by OTP. The check is an exact comparison between the member's name on the card and the name in UIDAI's record. "Suresh Kumar" on the card against "Suresh Kumar Singh" on Aadhaar fails; so does a Kurukh surname spelt with a different vowel, and so does a Hindi line that transliterates differently from the English one. A member who fails is not shown on the monthly eligibility list the dealer lifts grain against, and the ePoS will not release that member's share.
What is compared
The member's name as the department holds it, in both scripts, against the Aadhaar name; the Aadhaar number on the card against the number; and the biometric or OTP against the number. A wrong mobile on the card blocks OTP e-KYC altogether.
What follows
Aadhaar is the fixed point. Correct the card to Aadhaar. If the card has the family's spelling and Aadhaar the clerk's, correct Aadhaar first to the Class 10 spelling, then the card. Never file a card correction before Aadhaar is right.
Suspended, not deleted

The form and the acknowledgement
Download the correction form from the Aahar Jharkhand download menu or take it from the block office; the head signs it. Where the cardholder login offers a correction, file it with the Aadhaar upload and print the acknowledgement slip; where it does not, the form alone is the application.
The Block Supply Officer

Central Gazette Name Change Process From Jharkhand, Step by Step, Before the Ration Card Correction
For a chosen new name, Aadhaar wants the Gazette of India and the ration card follows Aadhaar, so the Gazette of India notification. There is no Gazette office in Jharkhand and no State Gazette route; the file goes to the Department of Publication in Delhi in your own name. Adding a Wife's Name to a Ration Card After Marriage in Jharkhand: Off One Card, Onto Another
One Aadhaar can sit on one card. A bride is therefore deleted from her father's card first, at his block, with her consent and her Aadhaar, and the deletion receipt is what her husband's addition needs, at his block, with her Aadhaar, the marriage certificate and OTP. Both are done in the name Aadhaar carries at the time: if she has taken her husband's surname, Aadhaar is updated on the marriage certificate first, and both cards see the married name; if she has not, both see the maiden name, and no ration card asks her to change it.

Across districts
The deletion is at the father's BSO wherever that is, in person or by a family member with her signed consent; the addition at the husband's. The two blocks do not talk to each other; the receipt does.
Green card families
A JSFSS Green Card follows the same login and the same BSO. Where the husband's family holds no card at all, a fresh application in the head's name lists her as a member from the start.

Ration Stopped Over a Name in Jharkhand: The Dealer, BSO, DSO and State Food Commission Ladder
The dealer
Under the NFSA a dealer cannot refuse a member who is on the monthly eligibility list. Check the list on the portal; if the member is on it and the dealer refuses, note the date and the ePoS response.
The Block Supply Officer
For a member missing from the list, the BSO can see why: e-KYC pending, a name mismatch, a stale mobile. The BSO triggers the sync after a correction and takes the correction papers.
The District Supply Officer and the DGRO
The DSO at the Collectorate is the department's district officer and, under Section 15 of the NFSA, the District Grievance Redressal Officer hears a complaint about a denied entitlement; the helpline 1967 registers it too.
The State Food Commission
Jharkhand's State Food Commission, under Section 16 of the Act, hears appeals from the DGRO's order and complaints of denial. A written complaint with the card, the eligibility list and the correction receipts.
