Maiyan Samman Yojana Name Mismatch in Jharkhand: Aadhaar, Bank and Ration Card
When a Mukhyamantri Maiyan Samman Yojana instalment, also written Maiya Samman, has not come or an application is stuck, one common reason is a name that reads differently on Aadhaar, the bank account and the ration card. Kumari on one, Devi on another, a maiden surname on the third. As the Government's MyGov blog describes it, the scheme asks for an "Aadhaar Linked Individual Bank Account" and the "name on the Ration Card". The money moves by Direct Benefit Transfer, and UIDAI explains how that works: you ask your bank to link Aadhaar "by filling up the mandate and consent form", and "You can receive DBT benefits only in one account as per your choice". So the fix is usually not the scheme at all. It is getting three records to agree, and one bank account seeded. This page shows the order.
Five points, in the order you will need them. First, check where the money is meant to go. UIDAI says DBT is received "only in one account as per your choice", and that you can check your bank seeding status on myAadhaar, with the information "fetched from the server of National Payment Corporation of India". Second, know that the last seeding wins. A bank's published FAQ on the Aadhaar Payment Bridge says the previous mapping "gets overwritten by the fresh seeding", so seeding Aadhaar at a second bank can move your DBT there. Third, make the three names agree. Compare Aadhaar, the bank passbook and the ration card, letter by letter, and correct the odd one out. After marriage, the marriage certificate is usually the link. Fourth, seed the right account. At the branch, fill the bank's mandate and consent form for DBT. Fifth, then follow up the scheme at the Anganwadi, Panchayat camp or the scheme's portal. We could not open the scheme's own portal, and the reports we read give different age bands, 18 to 50 and 21 to 50, so confirm the current rules at your camp before relying on either.
The Three Names That Must Agree for Maiyan Samman Yojana
As the MyGov blog lists them, the scheme's documents include the "Ration Card", the "Aadhaar Card" and "Aadhaar Linked Individual Bank Account Details". Each of these carries your name, and each was made at a different time, often before and after marriage. When they disagree, somebody along the chain has to decide they are the same woman.
| Record | What to check |
|---|---|
| Aadhaar | Your name, letter by letter, and your date of birth |
| Bank passbook | The same name, and that the account is in your own name, not joint with your husband only |
| Ration card | That you are listed, and in which name |
| Aadhaar bank seeding | Which bank your Aadhaar is seeded to for DBT |
| Your application | The name and account you gave at the camp or on the portal |
How Maiyan Samman DBT Reaches Your Account: Aadhaar Seeding and the NPCI Mapper
The instalment is paid by Direct Benefit Transfer. UIDAI explains that to receive DBT you "visit the bank branch where you have opened the account and request the bank to link your Aadhaar with your account by filling up the mandate and consent form", and that "This account will be seeded with NPCI-mapper by the bank to operate as a DBT enabled account."
Two rules matter most. "You can receive DBT benefits only in one account as per your choice", says UIDAI. And a bank's published FAQ on the Aadhaar Payment Bridge explains that if Aadhaar is seeded in more than one account, "the previous mapping if any in the NPCI mapper, gets overwritten by the fresh seeding". So the last bank you seeded Aadhaar with is where DBT goes.
| The rule | What it means for you |
|---|---|
| One DBT account | Only the account you chose in the mandate and consent form |
| The last seeding wins | Seeding Aadhaar at a new bank can move your DBT there |
| Check it yourself | On myAadhaar, bank seeding status, fetched from NPCI's server |
| Change it | At the bank you want, with its mandate and consent form |
Which Record to Fix First for a Maiyan Samman Name Mismatch
Fix the records in the order they feed each other. Aadhaar is the anchor, because bank seeding runs on it and most offices read from it. Then the bank, because the money lands there. Then the ration card, if it is the odd one out.
| Order | Record | How |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Aadhaar, if its name is wrong | Update with proof. UIDAI allows a name to be updated twice. See Aadhaar name change |
| 2 | Bank account name | KYC update at the branch. See bank request letter |
| 3 | Aadhaar seeding | The bank's mandate and consent form |
| 4 | Ration card, if different | See adding a wife's name after marriage |
| 5 | The scheme record | At the Anganwadi, camp or portal, once the others agree |
After Marriage: Kumari, Devi and the Maiden Surname in Maiyan Samman Records
For many women the mismatch is marriage itself. Aadhaar made before marriage says one name; the ration card of the new household says another; the bank account may be in either. Nobody made a mistake; the records simply belong to two stages of life.
| The mismatch | What usually links it |
|---|---|
| Kumari on Aadhaar, Devi on the ration card | See Kumari and Devi to the husband's surname |
| Father's surname on one, husband's on another | The marriage certificate |
| Not yet on the husband's family ration card | Add your name there. See adding a wife's name |
| No marriage certificate | Register the marriage. See documents after marriage |
| A name genuinely changed for another reason | The Gazette notice |
Maiyan Samman Yojana Rules: What We Could and Could Not Verify
We could not open the scheme's own portal while writing this page, so the scheme details below come from secondary sources, and they do not all agree.
| Detail | What we found |
|---|---|
| Amount | "₹2,500 per month", as reported by Drishti IAS |
| Age band | The sources disagree. MyGov's blog says "18 to 50 years"; Drishti IAS says "not less than 21 years and not more than 50 years" |
| Bank account | "Aadhaar Linked Individual Bank Account", per MyGov; "must be linked with Aadhaar", per Drishti IAS |
| How to apply | Portal, Anganwadi workers, and "Panchayat-level camps" or ward and Anganwadi centres, per MyGov |
| Rules on name mismatches | None found in the sources we read |

Central Gazette Process for a Name From Jharkhand, and Where It Fits a Welfare Scheme Name
No district in Jharkhand has a gazette counter, so a genuine file goes from Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Dhanbad, Bokaro, Hazaribagh, Deoghar or anywhere else in the state to the Department of Publication, Civil Lines, Delhi 110054, and the notice publishes in Part IV of the Gazette of India. As reported in July 2025 the Finance Department stopped personal name change notifications from the Jharkhand Government Press with immediate effect, so there is no state alternative to fall back on.
The Eight Steps of a Name File Sent From Jharkhand
Settle the final name first
Letter by letter, with the spacing you want, and then use exactly that everywhere, Aadhaar included. A corrigendum after publication is a second fee and a second wait.
Pick the category, then its proforma
A genuine change of name is change of Name Adult or Major. A wrongly typed spelling is the public notice for a wrongly written name. Twelve categories exist and only one is yours.
Type the proforma in duplicate
Two originals with two witnesses giving signature, full name, address and mobile number on both copies. A change of name is signed in the old name; a public notice is signed in your own name.
Fill the employment field if it is a change of name
The adult proforma asks for the post of the applicant and the office or company name. A student or a homemaker should still complete it rather than leaving it blank, because a blank field brings the file back.
Publish and keep the original paper
One of the daily local leading newspapers, carrying both names in full, the father or husband name and the residential address. The whole original paper goes in the file, not a cutting.
Pay only through BharatKosh
The Non Tax Receipt Portal and nowhere else since October 2018. Select the Department of Publication by name, read the amount the portal shows on the day, pay in your own name and print the e-receipt.
Check every date, then post it yourself
Nothing in the file older than one year. Personally or by post or courier only, never through an agent or advocate. Photocopy everything first, because nothing sent in comes back.
Read the notice, then update in the right order
Check every word the day it publishes, download the e-Gazette copy, and then update the Aadhaar first, because the system leverages it for unique identification, and let the PAN, the bank account and any investment records follow after it in that order. Use the notice to update Aadhaar first, then the bank, and seed the right account for DBT.
The Five Papers in the File, and What Is Checked in Each
| The paper | What is checked in it, clause by clause |
|---|---|
| 1. The proforma, in duplicate | That it is the right category format; the existing full name exactly as your documents carry it; the new full name exactly as settled; the father or husband name; the full address with pin code; the post and office or company name where it is a change of name; the signature in the right name for the category; two witnesses complete with signature, full name, address and mobile number |
| 2. The affidavit or undertaking | The same names and address as the proforma, word for word, with wording matching the category. On Rs 100 non-judicial stamp paper as our safe default |
| 3. The original newspaper | The original paper, not a cutting; the paper name and date of publication visible; both names carried; the father or husband name and residential address; dated within the last year |
| 4. Photographs, identity proof and any category paper | Two self attested passport photographs; self attested identity and address proof matching the proforma address; both witnesses proofs; and, in a public notice file, the attested photocopy of the connected document carrying the error |
| 5. The CD, its certificate and the BharatKosh receipt | MS Word, without the witness portion, with the name typed in place of the signature; the certificate that the hard copy and the soft copy are the same; the forwarding letter to the Controller of Publication with a telephone number and email; the e-receipt |
The posting detail is on the sending the file to Delhi page, the change of name wording on the proforma format page and the public notice wording on the public notice proforma page, the charge by category on the fee and undertaking page, the reasons files come back on the rejection reasons page, and the download on the download page.
