CTET Certificate Name Correction for Jharkhand Candidates: The Correction Window and After
A CTET certificate is meant to last your whole teaching career. Its own FAQ says the certificate "would remain valid for life", unless the Government notifies otherwise. That is exactly why a wrong name on it matters. CTET's rule on corrections is strict. You can correct your name, father's name and mother's name online, in a window announced with the exam schedule. "No change will be accepted through offline mode i.e. through fax/application or by email etc." And once the window closes: "No request for any change in particulars is to be accepted under any circumstances after the specified date for online correction is over." This page tells you how to use the window, and what to do if it has already passed and your teaching job application in Jharkhand is coming up.
Five points, in the order you will need them. First, the online correction window is your only chance inside CTET. Its FAQ says "You can do online correction. The time period for online correction is announced along with schedule of examination." Name, father's name and mother's name can be corrected there. Second, no offline route exists. "No change will be accepted through offline mode i.e. through fax/application or by email etc." Third, after the window, nothing changes. "No request for any change in particulars is to be accepted under any circumstances after the specified date for online correction is over." Fourth, download the revised confirmation page after any correction, because the earlier one is no longer valid. Fifth, if the window has passed and the certificate carries a wrong name, the certificate will stay as it is. The job then is to make your other records work with it: match Aadhaar to your Class 10 certificate, and carry a linking paper, such as an affidavit, to the recruitment verification. We found no published CTET route for correcting a certificate after the result, and we print none.
CTET Online Correction Window: Name, Father's Name and Mother's Name
CTET's FAQ answers the correction question in a few sentences. "You can do online correction. The time period for online correction is announced along with schedule of examination." In that window you can correct your name, father's name, mother's name, address, category, exam centre city, photograph and signature, by logging into the website.
| The point | In CTET's words, or what it means |
|---|---|
| How | "You can do online correction", by logging into the website |
| When | "announced along with schedule of examination" |
| Not by letter or email | "No change will be accepted through offline mode i.e. through fax/application or by email etc." |
| After the window | "No request for any change in particulars is to be accepted under any circumstances after the specified date for online correction is over." |
| After you correct | Download the revised confirmation page; the earlier one becomes invalid |
What to Check in Your CTET Application Before the Correction Window Closes
The name on the CTET certificate will be read against your Class 10 certificate, your degree and your B.Ed or D.El.Ed at every recruitment. So the spelling to use is the one those papers carry, not the one you prefer.
| Check | Against |
|---|---|
| Your name, letter by letter | Your Class 10 certificate, the anchor for recruitment |
| Your father's name | Your Class 10 certificate. See father's name correction |
| Your mother's name | Your Class 10 certificate. See mother's name correction |
| Initials or full name | Use the full name if your certificates carry it |
| Photograph and signature | Clear, and the signature you will use at verification |
CTET Name Wrong After the Correction Window: What You Can Still Do
CTET's words leave no room: after the window, "No request for any change in particulars is to be accepted under any circumstances." We found no published CTET route for correcting a certificate after the result. So plan on the certificate staying as it is, and make everything else work with it.
| Your situation | What usually works |
|---|---|
| A small spelling slip in your name | A spelling correction affidavit linking it to your Class 10 name, carried to every verification |
| Father's or mother's name slip | An affidavit, with your Class 10 certificate showing the right name |
| Your name changed after CTET, for example after marriage | The marriage certificate, or a Gazette notice for another change |
| You will sit CTET again | Enter the correct name this time, and use the correction window if needed |
| You are unsure whether a route exists | Ask CTET through its official contact, and keep the reply |
CTET Name Mismatch at a Teacher Recruitment Verification in Jharkhand
The CTET certificate is checked when you apply for a teaching post. The panel lays your papers side by side: Class 10 certificate, degree, B.Ed or D.El.Ed, CTET and Aadhaar. We could not read a published rule from any Jharkhand recruiting body on name mismatches, so we print none. What we can tell you is how to arrive prepared.
| Carry | Why |
|---|---|
| Class 10 certificate | The anchor for your name and parents' names |
| CTET marks statement and certificate | From DigiLocker or the original |
| Degree and B.Ed or D.El.Ed | Checked for the same name |
| A linking paper | Affidavit for a slip; marriage certificate or Gazette notice for a change |
| Aadhaar, matched to Class 10 | So at least your identity and your anchor agree |
CTET Certificate and Marks Statement on DigiLocker
CTET's FAQ says "The Eligibility Certificate and Mark Sheets of CTET will be available on Digilocker". The DigiLocker copy carries the same name as the certificate, so it does not solve a name problem, but it gives you a copy you can show anywhere.
| The point | What it means |
|---|---|
| Where | DigiLocker, as CTET's FAQ says |
| Name on the digital copy | The same as on the certificate |
| If your DigiLocker name differs from Aadhaar | See APAAR and DigiLocker |
| Validity | The certificate "would remain valid for life", unless the Government notifies otherwise |

Central Gazette Process for a Name From Jharkhand, and Where It Fits a CTET Certificate
No district in Jharkhand has a gazette counter, so a genuine file goes from Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Dhanbad, Bokaro, Hazaribagh, Deoghar or anywhere else in the state to the Department of Publication, Civil Lines, Delhi 110054, and the notice publishes in Part IV of the Gazette of India. As reported in July 2025 the Finance Department stopped personal name change notifications from the Jharkhand Government Press with immediate effect, so there is no state alternative to fall back on.
The Eight Steps of a Name File Sent From Jharkhand
Settle the final name first
Letter by letter, with the spacing you want, and then use exactly that everywhere, Aadhaar included. A corrigendum after publication is a second fee and a second wait.
Pick the category, then its proforma
A genuine change of name is change of Name Adult or Major. A wrongly typed spelling is the public notice for a wrongly written name. Twelve categories exist and only one is yours.
Type the proforma in duplicate
Two originals with two witnesses giving signature, full name, address and mobile number on both copies. A change of name is signed in the old name; a public notice is signed in your own name.
Fill the employment field if it is a change of name
The adult proforma asks for the post of the applicant and the office or company name. A student or a homemaker should still complete it rather than leaving it blank, because a blank field brings the file back.
Publish and keep the original paper
One of the daily local leading newspapers, carrying both names in full, the father or husband name and the residential address. The whole original paper goes in the file, not a cutting.
Pay only through BharatKosh
The Non Tax Receipt Portal and nowhere else since October 2018. Select the Department of Publication by name, read the amount the portal shows on the day, pay in your own name and print the e-receipt.
Check every date, then post it yourself
Nothing in the file older than one year. Personally or by post or courier only, never through an agent or advocate. Photocopy everything first, because nothing sent in comes back.
Read the notice, then update in the right order
Check every word the day it publishes, download the e-Gazette copy, and then update the Aadhaar first, because the system leverages it for unique identification, and let the PAN, the bank account and any investment records follow after it in that order. Carry the notice with your CTET certificate, because the certificate itself will not change after the correction window.
The Five Papers in the File, and What Is Checked in Each
| The paper | What is checked in it, clause by clause |
|---|---|
| 1. The proforma, in duplicate | That it is the right category format; the existing full name exactly as your documents carry it; the new full name exactly as settled; the father or husband name; the full address with pin code; the post and office or company name where it is a change of name; the signature in the right name for the category; two witnesses complete with signature, full name, address and mobile number |
| 2. The affidavit or undertaking | The same names and address as the proforma, word for word, with wording matching the category. On Rs 100 non-judicial stamp paper as our safe default |
| 3. The original newspaper | The original paper, not a cutting; the paper name and date of publication visible; both names carried; the father or husband name and residential address; dated within the last year |
| 4. Photographs, identity proof and any category paper | Two self attested passport photographs; self attested identity and address proof matching the proforma address; both witnesses proofs; and, in a public notice file, the attested photocopy of the connected document carrying the error |
| 5. The CD, its certificate and the BharatKosh receipt | MS Word, without the witness portion, with the name typed in place of the signature; the certificate that the hard copy and the soft copy are the same; the forwarding letter to the Controller of Publication with a telephone number and email; the e-receipt |
The posting detail is on the sending the file to Delhi page, the change of name wording on the proforma format page and the public notice wording on the public notice proforma page, the charge by category on the fee and undertaking page, the reasons files come back on the rejection reasons page, and the download on the download page.
