Since the Election Commission merged its forms in 2022, Form 8 covers four things: shifting of residence, correction of entries in the existing roll, replacement of a lost or damaged EPIC, and marking a voter as a person with disability. - Enumeration from 30 June to 29 July 2026: Booth Level Officers visited every household with partially pre-filled enumeration forms; 2.21 crore of 2.65 crore electors were covered.
- The draft roll was published on 5 August 2026 for all 81 assembly constituencies with 22,101,249 names; 43,61,987 names were left out as deceased, shifted, duplicate or unverified.
- Claims and objections ran until 4 September 2026 through the BLOs and EROs; the final roll follows.
- The exercise ran through 24 District Election Officers, 81 EROs and hundreds of assistant EROs, as the Chief Electoral Officer reported.
What it means for your name

Sworn on non-judicial stamp paper before a notary at your district court, in the OLD name as on your current Aadhaar: old name, new name, father's or husband's name, address with pin code, reason, verification clause, notary seal and register number. The BLO, the ERO and the Paper Route for a Voter ID Correction in Jharkhand
Booth Level Officer
The Government employee assigned to your polling station, usually a teacher or anganwadi worker, who holds the paper roll for the booth, hands out and collects forms, and verifies you at the address. Find yours on the Voter Services Portal or by calling 1950. Form 8 on paper is handed to the BLO with a self-attested copy of the document.
Electoral Registration Officer

Voter ID Name Correction Refused in Jharkhand: The Section 24 Appeal
An ERO who rejects a Form 8 must record the reason, and the applicant is entitled to see it. Under Section 24 of the Representation of the People Act, 1950, an order of the ERO on a claim or objection is appealable to the District Magistrate, or the officer the State designates, within the period the rules fix, commonly fifteen days from the order, and a second appeal lies to the Chief Electoral Officer. In practice most refusals are about the document, and a fresh Form 8 with the right document is faster than an appeal.

Document does not show the corrected spelling; name typed differently from the document; BLO could not find you at the address; a change of name filed as a correction with no Gazette.
Fix and refile
Update Aadhaar first, copy the name from it, upload a clear scan, and tell the BLO when you will be home. For a full change, complete the Central Gazette process and attach the PDF.
Appeal
A written appeal to the DEO with the ERO's order, the Form 8 reference and the document, within the period; then to the CEO, Jharkhand. Grievances also go through the National Grievance Service portal and 1950.

Mistakes That Get a Voter ID Form 8 Rejected in Jharkhand
