Here a spelling does not delay your money • It can remove you from the register • And registration is the Panchayat's legal duty

Name Change in MGNREGA Job Card in Jharkhand

We have written many pages about names on records. This is the most serious one. Wages under the employment guarantee now run through the Aadhaar Based Payment System, and one of its conditions is that the name on the Aadhaar card must match the name on the job card. A difference is not a delay. Between April and 10 October 2024 around 85 lakh workers were deleted and 45 lakh added, a net deletion of 39 lakh workers, and a research group found roughly 15 per cent of those deletions were wrongful. So on this record a wrong spelling is not paperwork. It is a documented route to being taken off a statutory guarantee. The good news sits in the Act itself: registering your household and issuing the card is the Gram Panchayat's duty, and registration lasts not less than five years.

3Conditions the payment system requires
5Years, the minimum a registration runs for
27Per cent of workers still not ABPS eligible
1Card, covering the whole household
Quick answer

Read the job card, the Aadhaar and the bank passbook together today, because on this record a mismatch has a documented cost. Since the Ministry of Rural Development mandated nationwide use of the Aadhaar Based Payment System for wages, three conditions have to hold at once: the Aadhaar linked to the job card with matching names, the bank account seeded with Aadhaar, and the account mapped with NPCI. Reporting on the effect of this is stark. Between April and 10 October 2024 around 85 lakh workers were deleted while 45 lakh were added, a net deletion of 39 lakh, and nearly 27.4 per cent of all workers remain ineligible for the payment system because they cannot meet those conditions. A research group estimated about 15 per cent of the deletions were wrongful. Now the part that protects you. Schedule II of the Act says adult members of a household may submit their names, age and address, and then that "it shall be the duty of the Gram Panchayat to register the household, after making such enquiry as it deems fit and issue a job card" containing details of the adult members of the household with their photographs affixed. It also provides that the registration "shall be for such period as may be laid in the Scheme, but in any case not less than five years". So the card belongs to a household, registration is a duty rather than a favour, and it runs for years. Fix the spelling on Aadhaar first, then get the Panchayat record to match, and keep every acknowledgement.

The MGNREGA Job Card Is a Household Record, Not a Personal One

Name change in MGNREGA job card in Jharkhand
One card, every adult in the house, each name and photograph on it. That shape decides everything.

Before anything about corrections, understand what you are holding, because the Act describes it precisely and the description explains most of the problems families run into.

What Schedule II provides about registration and the job card
What the Act saysWhat it means for a name
Paragraph 1. "Adult members of every household who reside in any rural areas and are willing to do unskilled manual work, may submit their names, age and the address"The unit is the household and the entries are the adult members. So several names sit on one card, and each of them has to survive a check separately
Paragraph 2. "It shall be the duty of the Gram Panchayat to register the household, after making such enquiry as it deems fit and issue a job card"Note the phrase duty of the Gram Panchayat. Registration is not a favour being granted to you, and that wording is worth knowing when a household is turned away
Paragraph 2. The job card contains "such details of adult members of the household affixing their photographs"Names and photographs. So this is an identity document for several people at once, which is exactly why a mismatch against one person's Aadhaar can affect the household's position
Paragraph 3. The registration "shall be for such period as may be laid in the Scheme, but in any case not less than five years, and may be renewed from time to time"Not less than five years, and renewable. A registration is meant to last, which is worth remembering if a household finds itself quietly off the list
Paragraph 23 contemplates a job card being returned where a name is removed from the registerWhich tells you that removal is a formal act with a consequence attached, not something that should simply happen without the household knowing
What we could not confirm from the text we readWe did not find, in the Schedule text we were able to read, an express statement that the card is issued free of cost or a provision about whose custody it stays in. Both are widely stated elsewhere. We are not going to quote what we did not read, so ask your Panchayat
The consequence of the household shape, stated plainly. If your son's name on the card is spelt differently from his Aadhaar, that is his problem and the household's problem at the same time, because they sit on one card. Read every adult's entry, not just your own, and read each one against that person's own Aadhaar. Families almost never do this, and it is the single most useful half hour available to them.
Keep the card, and keep a photograph of it. Whatever else is true, a household that can produce its own job card, and a photograph of every page including the work entries, is in a far stronger position than one that cannot. Take those photographs today, before any office asks for the card, and keep them somewhere the whole family can reach.

The Three Way Match That Decides Whether MGNREGA Wages Reach You

This is the section we would ask you to read aloud to anybody in the household who works under the scheme. It is the reason a spelling on this card is not an administrative matter.

What the Aadhaar Based Payment System requires and what failing it has meant in practice
The pointWhat is reported, and what it means
The system became the route for wagesAs reported, "in January 2023, the Ministry of Rural Development had mandated the nationwide implementation" of the Aadhaar Based Payment System for receiving payments for work under the scheme
Condition one, and the one this page is aboutThe Aadhaar linked to the job card, with matching names. Put bluntly in the same report: "the name on the Aadhaar card must match the name on the job card"
Condition twoThe bank account seeded with Aadhaar. So the account has to be connected to the same identity, not merely open in a similar name
Condition threeThe account mapped with NPCI, the body that routes these payments. A worker can satisfy the first two and still fail at this one, and will usually not be told which
What failing it has meant, at scaleBetween April and 10 October 2024, around 85 lakh workers were deleted while 45 lakh were added, a net deletion of 39 lakh workers. The same reporting records that about 8.2 crore active workers have been deleted citing ineligibility over a broader period
How many still cannot complyNearly 27.4 per cent of all workers remain ineligible for the payment system, unable to meet those conditions. A research group, LibTech, found approximately 15 per cent of the deletions were wrongful
Read those last two rows again, because they are the whole argument of this page. On every other record on this website, a name mismatch costs a household time. Here it sits behind a documented process that has removed people, in very large numbers, from a statutory employment guarantee, and a meaningful share of those removals were wrong. If somebody in your house works under this scheme, check the name today. Not next month. This is the most consequential half hour on this entire website.
How to read those figures fairly, because we want you informed and not frightened. Deletions happen for many reasons, including genuine ones, such as a household moving or a duplicate being removed. What the figures do show is that the system is strict about identity matching and that mistakes at scale are documented rather than theoretical. We are reporting what a national environment publication and a research group have published, not making a claim of our own, and we have said so plainly on this page and in the author note.
If you have already been removed, do not assume it is final. The Act gives your household a footing to stand on, and the next section sets it out. A wrongful deletion is exactly the thing a written representation to the Gram Panchayat and the Programme Officer exists for. Ask in writing why the household or the worker was removed, and ask for the answer in writing. Keep that letter, because it is the beginning of every route that follows.

The Footing the Act Gives a Household on a Job Card Question

Having set out the risk honestly, here is the other side, and it is stronger than most households realise. Three sentences in the Schedule are worth carrying to a counter.

1

Registration is a duty, not a favour

Paragraph 2 says "it shall be the duty of the Gram Panchayat to register the household" and issue a job card. That is the language of obligation, and it is the sentence to quote politely when a household is turned away.

2

The enquiry is the Panchayat's, and it is bounded

The duty arises after "such enquiry as it deems fit". An enquiry is contemplated. An indefinite delay with no enquiry and no answer is a different thing, and worth asking about in writing.

3

Registration runs for at least five years

Paragraph 3 provides for "not less than five years", renewable. So a registration is designed to persist, and a household that finds itself silently off a list is entitled to ask under what paragraph that happened.

4

The card carries photographs

Names and photographs of the adult members. That makes it a real identity document for the household, and it is worth protecting as one.

5

Removal is a formal act

The Schedule contemplates the job card being returned where a name is struck off the register. Formality cuts both ways: it should not happen invisibly, and you may ask when and on what basis it did.

6

Everything above is free to use

Reading your card, writing one letter, and asking for a written answer costs nothing. On this page, more than any other on this site, the cheap actions are the effective ones.

The letter to write, in four lines. Address the Gram Panchayat, copy the Programme Officer at the block. Give the job card number and the household. State the entry as it stands and as it should read, and name the document it should match, which is that person's Aadhaar. Ask for the correction and for a written acknowledgement. Keep your stamped copy. Four lines, no fee, and it is the whole of what most of these cases need.
What we are not printing, and why. We are not giving you a Jharkhand form number, a portal step, an office address or a number of days, because we have verified none of them. Nearly everything that ranks on this keyword is a private website that looks official. A Government page address ends in a Government domain. Your Gram Panchayat and your block office hold the actual list and the actual procedure, and their written answer is worth more than this page.

How to Correct a Name on an MGNREGA Job Card in Jharkhand

1

Read every adult's entry on the card

Not just yours. It is a household card and each adult is checked separately. Photograph every page first, including the work entries.

2

Put each entry beside that person's Aadhaar

Letter by letter. The reported condition is that the name on the Aadhaar must match the name on the job card, so this comparison is the actual test.

3

Check the bank passbook for each worker

The account must be seeded with Aadhaar and mapped for these payments. A name that agrees on card and Aadhaar but not at the bank still fails.

4

Decide which document is the wrong one

Usually the Aadhaar is the one to settle first, because everything else is checked against it. Our Aadhaar name change page sets out that route.

5

Settle one spelling and go to Aadhaar once

Aadhaar charges a fee per attempt with no refund and limits how often a name may be updated. For a household where several members need it, decide the family surname first.

6

Write to the Gram Panchayat

With the job card number, the entry as it stands and as it should read, and the corrected Aadhaar. Copy the Programme Officer at the block.

7

Ask for a written acknowledgement

And keep your stamped copy. On a record where removals happen, your own paper trail is the most valuable thing you own.

8

Ask the bank to complete the seeding

In writing, and ask specifically whether the account is mapped for these payments, because that is a separate step from seeding and is where people fail without knowing.

9

If a worker has been removed, ask why in writing

Naming the household and the worker, and asking under what provision and on what date. A wrongful removal is exactly what a written representation exists for.

10

Escalate in writing, one level at a time

The Gram Panchayat, then the Programme Officer, then the District Programme Coordinator. Each step needs the previous letter, which is why step 7 matters.

11

Bring the household's other records into line

The ration card, the caste certificate and the children's school records usually carry the same spelling problem.

12

Check the card again at the next work season

Read the entries and confirm the household is still registered. Do not wait for a payment to fail to find out.

Steps 2 and 7 are the whole page. Compare each adult's card entry against that person's own Aadhaar, and never hand in a letter without getting your copy stamped. Everything else follows from those two, and on this record the paper trail is not bureaucracy. It is protection.

Where a tribal surname is spelt two ways across the household, see our tribal surname spelling correction page, and where the card carries a Hindi form of a name against an English one elsewhere, our Hindi to English name spelling difference page sets out how to choose. Households also holding an e-Shram card should read our labour card and e-Shram page, because that is a different card again.

Central Gazette Process for a Name From Jharkhand, and Where It Fits a Scheme Record

Read this before the rest of this section. Nothing about a job card is ever published in a gazette. A job card entry is corrected by the Gram Panchayat that issued it, and the document behind it is corrected at Aadhaar. This process matters to you in one situation only: where somebody in the household is genuinely changing their own name, most often a wife after marriage, and the job card is one of the records that follows afterwards. It is printed in full so you can see what a real file involves, and so you recognise at once when a gazette is being sold to a household that works under the employment guarantee. The answer there is no, and it matters more here than anywhere else on this website.

No district in Jharkhand has a gazette counter, so a genuine file goes from Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Dhanbad, Bokaro, Hazaribagh, Deoghar or anywhere else in the state to the Department of Publication, Civil Lines, Delhi 110054, and the notice publishes in Part IV of the Gazette of India. As reported in July 2025 the Finance Department stopped personal name change notifications from the Jharkhand Government Press with immediate effect, so there is no state alternative to fall back on.

The Eight Steps of a Name File Sent From Jharkhand

1

Settle the final name first

Letter by letter, with the spacing you want, and then use exactly that everywhere, Aadhaar included. A corrigendum after publication is a second fee and a second wait.

2

Pick the category, then its proforma

A genuine change of name is change of Name Adult or Major. A wrongly typed spelling is the public notice for a wrongly written name. Twelve categories exist and only one is yours.

3

Type the proforma in duplicate

Two originals with two witnesses giving signature, full name, address and mobile number on both copies. A change of name is signed in the old name; a public notice is signed in your own name.

4

Fill the employment field if it is a change of name

The adult proforma asks for the post of the applicant and the office or company name. A daily wage worker should still complete it rather than leaving it blank, because a blank field brings the file back.

5

Publish and keep the original paper

One of the daily local leading newspapers, carrying both names in full, the father or husband name and the residential address. The whole original paper goes in the file, not a cutting.

6

Pay only through BharatKosh

The Non Tax Receipt Portal and nowhere else since October 2018. Select the Department of Publication by name, read the amount the portal shows on the day, pay in your own name and print the e-receipt.

7

Check every date, then post it yourself

Nothing in the file older than one year. Personally or by post or courier only, never through an agent or advocate. Photocopy everything first, because nothing sent in comes back.

8

Read the notice, then update in the right order

Check every word the day it publishes, download the e-Gazette copy, and then work through Aadhaar first, the bank account next, and the job card entry at the Gram Panchayat after them.

The Five Papers in the File, and What Is Checked in Each

The five papers of a Central Gazette name file from Jharkhand and what the Department checks in each
The paperWhat is checked in it, clause by clause
1. The proforma, in duplicateThat it is the right category format; the existing full name exactly as your documents carry it; the new full name exactly as settled; the father or husband name; the full address with pin code; the post and office or company name where it is a change of name; the signature in the right name for the category; two witnesses complete with signature, full name, address and mobile number
2. The affidavit or undertakingThe same names and address as the proforma, word for word, with wording matching the category. On Rs 100 non-judicial stamp paper as our safe default
3. The original newspaperThe original paper, not a cutting; the paper name and date of publication visible; both names carried; the father or husband name and residential address; dated within the last year
4. Photographs, identity proof and any category paperTwo self attested passport photographs; self attested identity and address proof matching the proforma address; both witnesses proofs; and, in a public notice file, the attested photocopy of the connected document carrying the error
5. The CD, its certificate and the BharatKosh receiptMS Word, without the witness portion, with the name typed in place of the signature; the certificate that the hard copy and the soft copy are the same; the forwarding letter to the Controller of Publication with a telephone number and email; the e-receipt
The proforma is where files are lost, and there are twelve to choose from. A wrongly typed spelling filed on the change of name form declares henceforth be known as, claiming a change you never made. The Government charge already paid is not refunded, because BharatKosh payments are non-refundable. You then have six months to make good a shortcoming the Department points out, after which a fresh application with all new documents is required.
What to select on BharatKosh, field by field. Pay to the Department of Publication under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, and pick the Ministry, the Pay and Accounts Office and the Drawing and Disbursing Officer by their names in the dropdown, never by a code copied off a website. The codes printed for this office on different websites do not agree with each other, and money paid into the wrong head cannot be traced to your file. Read the amount on the portal on the day you pay, because it is revised each financial year.
Say this plainly to anybody quoting a job card household a gazette. A gazette notice is about a person's name. It does not register a household, it does not restore a deleted worker, and it does not correct a job card by itself. A household earning daily wages under the employment guarantee has less spare money than any other reader of this website. Nobody should be selling them a Delhi gazette file for a spelling that a corrected Aadhaar and a four line letter to the Panchayat would have settled. Ask the Panchayat first, in writing, and buy nothing until it has answered.

The posting detail is on the sending the file to Delhi page, the change of name wording on the proforma format page and the public notice wording on the public notice proforma page, the charge by category on the fee and undertaking page, the reasons files come back on the rejection reasons page, and the download on the download page.

What BharatKosh shows on the payment screen the day you pay is the figure that countsPart IV publishes weekly, so allow several weeks from posting

Do not trust a figure printed on any website, including this one, on the day you pay. The Department's own guidelines say the printing charge varies each financial year and from case to case, so the figures above are what the published guidelines show for 2016 to 2017 and are given so you know the order of the amount, not the amount. What BharatKosh shows when you reach the payment screen is the one that counts. Read it there and pay that.
Look at what this table actually says, because it is unusual. The two most effective rows cost nothing: reading the card against the Aadhaar, and writing four lines to the Panchayat. The only charge you should expect to meet is one Aadhaar correction. If anybody has quoted a daily wage household a larger sum to sort out a job card, get the Panchayat's written answer before paying any of it. The line items across all records are on our name change cost page.

Myths About MGNREGA Job Card Name Corrections

Common beliefs about job card name corrections and what is actually correct
What people are toldWhat is actually so
A spelling on a job card is a small matterIt is the most serious name question on this website. The reported condition for wages is that "the name on the Aadhaar card must match the name on the job card", and between April and 10 October 2024 there was a reported net deletion of 39 lakh workers, with a research group estimating 15 per cent of deletions were wrongful
Only the head of the household's name mattersThe card is a household record. Schedule II has the Gram Panchayat issue a card containing "such details of adult members of the household affixing their photographs". Every adult is checked separately, so read every entry
Registering a household is at the Panchayat's discretionThe Act says "it shall be the duty of the Gram Panchayat to register the household, after making such enquiry as it deems fit and issue a job card". That is obligation, not discretion, and it is worth quoting politely
Fix the job card and the wages will comeNot on its own. The payment system reportedly requires three things: Aadhaar linked to the job card with matching names, the bank account seeded with Aadhaar, and the account mapped with NPCI. Many workers satisfy two and fail the third without being told which
If you have been removed, that is the end of itRegistration is for not less than five years under the Schedule, and removal is a formal act that contemplates the card being returned. Ask in writing why, under what provision and on what date, and keep the answer
A gazette notification will sort out a job cardIt will not. A gazette is about a person's name. It does not register a household, restore a deleted worker or correct a job card. A daily wage household should not be buying one for a spelling that Aadhaar and a four line letter would settle
Correct the job card first, since that is where it was noticedUsually backwards. Aadhaar is what everything else is matched against, so settle that first and then bring the card into line with it. Going the other way means doing the work twice
Somebody at the office will tell you which condition failedOften nobody does, and that is the practical difficulty. Ask specifically: is the Aadhaar name matching, is the account seeded, and is it mapped for these payments. Three separate questions, asked in writing
The websites explaining the job card list are officialMostly they are not. Nearly everything that ranks on this keyword is a private site that looks official. A Government page address ends in a Government domain. Your Gram Panchayat and block office hold the actual list
You can leave it until the next work seasonPlease do not. The check happens when a payment is attempted, which is after the work is done. Discovering a mismatch then means the labour is already given, and that is the worst possible order
The three questions to ask, in writing, in one letter. Does the name on our job card match the Aadhaar for each worker. Is each worker's bank account seeded with Aadhaar. Is each account mapped for these payments. Ask them together, ask for a written answer, and keep your stamped copy. That letter costs nothing and it is the most useful document a household can hold on this subject.

MGNREGA Job Card Name Change: Frequently Asked Questions

Why does a spelling on a job card matter so much?+
Because wages run through the Aadhaar Based Payment System, and one of its reported conditions is that "the name on the Aadhaar card must match the name on the job card". This is not a delay. Reporting records that between April and 10 October 2024 around 85 lakh workers were deleted while 45 lakh were added, a net deletion of 39 lakh, that nearly 27.4 per cent of workers remain ineligible for the system, and that a research group estimated roughly 15 per cent of deletions were wrongful. That is why this is the most serious name page on this website.
Whose name on the card do I need to check?+
Every adult's. The job card is a household record. Schedule II has the Gram Panchayat issue a card containing "such details of adult members of the household affixing their photographs", and each person is checked separately against their own Aadhaar. A card where the head of the household is correct and a son or a daughter-in-law is not is still a card with a problem.
What exactly does the payment system require?+
Three things at once, as reported: the Aadhaar linked to the job card with matching names, the bank account seeded with Aadhaar, and the account mapped with NPCI. The third is a separate step from the second and it is the one workers most often fail without being told which condition failed. Ask about all three separately, in writing.
Which should I correct first, the card or the Aadhaar?+
Aadhaar first, because that is what the job card is matched against. Settle one spelling for the family, go once, and remember that Aadhaar charges a fee per attempt with no refund and limits how often a name may be updated. Our Aadhaar name change page sets out that route. Then write to the Gram Panchayat to bring the card into line.
Can the Panchayat refuse to register our household?+
The Act puts it as an obligation. Schedule II provides that "it shall be the duty of the Gram Panchayat to register the household, after making such enquiry as it deems fit and issue a job card". So an enquiry is contemplated, but registration is described as a duty rather than a discretion. If a household is turned away, ask politely and in writing what enquiry is pending and when it will be concluded, and keep the acknowledgement.
A worker in our house has been deleted. Is that final?+
Do not assume so. The Schedule provides that a registration is "for such period as may be laid in the Scheme, but in any case not less than five years", and it contemplates the job card being returned where a name is removed, so removal is a formal act rather than something that should happen invisibly. Write and ask why, under what provision and on what date, addressed to the Gram Panchayat and copied to the Programme Officer, and ask for the answer in writing.
What do I put in the letter?+
Four lines is enough. The job card number and the household. The entry as it stands and the entry as it should read. The document it should match, which is that person's Aadhaar. A request for the correction and for a written acknowledgement. Address it to the Gram Panchayat, copy the Programme Officer at the block, and keep your stamped copy.
Do I need a gazette notification for a job card?+
No, and on this page we say it more firmly than anywhere else. A gazette is about a person's name. It does not register a household, it does not restore a deleted worker and it does not correct a job card. A household earning daily wages has less spare money than any other reader of this site. Nobody should be selling them a Delhi gazette file for a spelling that a corrected Aadhaar and a four line letter would settle.
What will the correction cost?+
For most households, one Aadhaar correction and nothing else. Reading the card and writing to the Panchayat are free. We print no job card correction fee, form number or timeline, because we verified none from a Government source and nearly everything that ranks on this keyword is a private website. If anybody has quoted you a larger sum, get the Panchayat's written answer before paying any of it.
Is the job card the same as the e-Shram card?+
No. They are different registrations under different laws with different offices. The job card is the household record issued by the Gram Panchayat under the employment guarantee. The e-Shram card is a national registration of unorganised workers carrying a twelve digit UAN. Many households hold both. Our labour card and e-Shram page deals with that pair, including the construction worker card, which is a third thing again.
Our surname is spelt two ways across the family. What do we do?+
Settle on one form and carry exactly that on every document, starting with each adult's Aadhaar. This is very common across Jharkhand with tribal surnames where two spellings are both in ordinary use. Our tribal surname spelling correction page sets out how to choose, and the Hembrom or Hembram and Oraon, Uraon and Oram pages deal with those surnames specifically.
How much of this can you actually do for us?+
We read the card against every adult's Aadhaar and the bank passbooks, tell you exactly which entry fails and against which document, tell you which of the three payment conditions is likely the problem, and draft the letter. The letter is handed in by you, at your own Gram Panchayat. We are a documentation consultancy and not advocates, not the Gram Panchayat, not the block office and not a bank. For most households we expect to tell you there is nothing for us to charge for, and that is a proper answer rather than a polite one.

Who wrote and checked this page

Written and maintained by the Jharkhandnamechange.com documentation desk, led by founder Vipin Chauhan, B.Tech LL.B, with 5+ years filing with the Department of Publication. The statutory positions on this page are taken from Schedule II of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act as published on India Code: that "adult members of every household who reside in any rural areas and are willing to do unskilled manual work, may submit their names, age and the address"; that "it shall be the duty of the Gram Panchayat to register the household, after making such enquiry as it deems fit and issue a job card" containing "such details of adult members of the household affixing their photographs"; and that the registration "shall be for such period as may be laid in the Scheme, but in any case not less than five years, and may be renewed from time to time", with the Schedule also contemplating the job card being returned where a name is removed from the register. We did not find, in the Schedule text we were able to read, an express provision that the card is issued free of cost or a provision on whose custody it stays in, and we have therefore not asserted either, although both are commonly stated elsewhere. The figures and conditions on the payment system are not our own research and are not Government statements. They are taken from reporting by Down To Earth, which records that in January 2023 the Ministry of Rural Development mandated nationwide implementation of the Aadhaar Based Payment System, that the system requires the Aadhaar linked to the job card with matching names, the bank account seeded with Aadhaar and mapping with NPCI, that "the name on the Aadhaar card must match the name on the job card", that between April and 10 October 2024 around 85 lakh workers were deleted while 45 lakh were added, a net deletion of 39 lakh, that about 8.2 crore active workers have been deleted citing ineligibility over a broader period, and that nearly 27.4 per cent of all workers remain ineligible; and the estimate that approximately 15 per cent of those deletions were wrongful is attributed in that reporting to the research group LibTech. The page says in its own text that these are published findings of a news publication and a research group rather than claims of ours, and it tells the reader how to read them fairly. We print no Jharkhand form number, no portal step, no office address, no correction fee and no timeline anywhere on this page, because we verified none from a Government source, and the page warns in two places that nearly everything ranking on this keyword is a private website that looks official. We are a documentation consultancy and not advocates, not the Ministry of Rural Development, not a Gram Panchayat, not a block office and not a bank. Who we are is on the about page.

A Job Card Name Correction in Eight Lines

The short version

  • The job card is a household record with every adult on it.
  • Wages need the Aadhaar name to match the job card name.
  • The account must also be Aadhaar seeded and NPCI mapped.
  • Failing that has removed workers in very large numbers.
  • So read every adult's entry against their own Aadhaar today.
  • Registering the household is the Gram Panchayat's duty.
  • Registration runs for not less than five years.
  • Fix Aadhaar, write four lines, keep the stamped copy.

Read every adult's name on the job card against their own Aadhaar. Today, not after a payment fails.

The check happens when wages are attempted, which is after the work is already done. For most households the whole fix is one Aadhaar correction and a four line letter, and we will tell you when that is all it is.
